And the winner is ...

Of course.

This is probably one of the best books I've read in my life, let alone this year. Not only is it obviously well-written, but the characters are very alive and the plot has great depth. It's definitely hard to put down, which says a lot coming from a mom who usually has to put books down and really treasures her sleep - something I did give up for this book. I don't think I've ever read a book where I grew so attached to the characters ... truly. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll just say that for months afterward, the thought of them would still wrench my heart and I would literally have to remind myself that it was FICTION and JUST A STORY, LAUREN so GET A GRIP.

I haven't seen the movie, but from what I've heard (and what I imagine), the book is better ... which is true in most cases. But from reading the book, I know that there is probably only so much that could have been translated to film and so, I would imagine, the book is much more complex and interesting. In other words, if you saw the movie and thought "eh," don't let that turn you off from the book too.

Part of me hopes I find another book like this in 2011 ... Another part of me doesn't think it's possible ... And still another part of me doesn't know if my heart will be able to take it if it is. I guess we'll see!

Happy New Year everyone!!

  1. I definitely agree! The book was so good and I got so emotionally into it that I don't even think I could read it again. DON'T see the movie. They don't give the fire to Claire that she has in the book, their relationship is missing that unconditional passion they have for each other and even major details are incorrect. But LOVED the book.
